The Shuswap Trail Alliance had a banner year in 2009, with over 25km of new trail created, and new alliances forged. As you may know, many funding sources have been cut for 2010. Instead of giving up, we are moving forward. We are asking the community to step forward again, and help keep the momentum from 2009.
The Build a Metre of Trail Campaign has a goal of rasing enough funds to build 5km of trail in the Shuswap region. At $15/metre that means we need to raise $75,000. Our timeline is to have these funds raised by May 30, 2010.
Any funds we raise can be leveraged to increase the dollars we have to use. As an example, the CSRD put $50,000 towards the Blind Bay White Lake trails, which were applied to the Local Motion program that matched these dollars. That meant a total of $100,000 to work with. So, every dollar you donate can be doubled in most cases.
The Shuswap Trail Alliance now has charitible status, so every donation over $20.00 will get a tax reciept.
