Calling all Trail Alliance Stewards! - Fall Review and Celebration - Saturday, Nov 3rd - The 2012 summer season is drawing to a close, and we have much to celebrate and many to thank.  This was the first season of the official Shuswap Trail Alliance Stewardship Program.  Thanks to you, we had many successes along the way:  we hosted four training sessions on various trail-related subjects; trained an intrepid group of committed volunteers to effectively work on building and maintaining sustainable trails; hosted several well-attended events; and completed worked on numerous trails and greenways throughout the region.

Fall is upon us, and it is time to gather and reflect on the season that was and plan for 2013.  We are gathering at White Lake on Saturday, November 3, and invite all volunteers who have committed time and energy to the Shuswap Trail Alliance to join us for a potluck dinner, preceded by a regional trail assessment session.  If you are up for a walk, the White Lake stewards invite you to come with them up to the Lookout trail and beyond, to assess the impact of the trail from various user groups, and discuss strategies to make the trail in this area more sustainable.  Or you could just walk, and assess the beauty of the surroundings!:)

These are the details:
1-3pm  Walk "To the Lookout and Beyond", hosted by the White Lake Stewards:  Gather at the John Evdokimoff Bike Park
4-6pm  Working session "Trail Review and Planning" at the White Lake Community Hall (3617 Parri Road)
6-8pm  Celebration:  Potluck supper, photo montage of the year, volunteer recognition: T-shirt time!

  • Bring your potluck offerings to the White Lake Hall when you arrive in the community.  There are ovens, fridges and plugs for crockpots, etc.  The hall will be open by noon for food drop-off)
  • If you have photos to share, send them to phil@shuswaptrails.com

If you are:

  • A Shuswap Trail Alliance volunteer (on the trail or off)
  • You have attended any of our training sessions
  • You would like to get more involved with the Shuswap Trail Alliance and wonder how to get connected

    or

  • You are simply interested in spending time with a really great group of people who are doing amazing work in the community...

... YOU SHOULD BE HERE!

RSVP's are appreciated for hall setup and numbers for dinner.  We look forward to regathering and sharing all the season's stories.  Hope to see you there!
