What's New

New Website On-line

We have ben working on updating the Shuswap Trails website over the last few months, and we finally have a working prototype on-line. Go to www.shuswaptrals.com to check it out. There is a lot of information to be added to the site, including maps, descriptions and GPS data. Some of the info is on the site (ie. Larch Hills Traverse), and will be added to as we prepare it. If you are familiar with a specific trail and would like to help with description and direction writing, please let us know.

This site is in phase 1, which uses manually input data. The next step will be a dtabase driven site, with more search capability, as well as the ability to find information based on how you want it. (ie user-type, dfficulty, location).

Our future goal is to have interactive mapping, commenting, and full guide information available.

What's Happening on the trails - November, 2008

Larch Hills Traverse
The Larch Hills Traverse has been touched up over the last couple of months
. Kevin Pattison and the crew have been working hard to finish the Sicamous section which is now complete. Trail users can now travel from Sicamous to the 112 FSR and continue on through the Traverse on completed trail. The incomplete bridges are now finished and some of the rough sections tidied-up.

Balmoral Bluffs Trail System
The Balmoral Bluffs system is now complete. Trail users can now travel from the Balmoral parking lot to the Blind Bay Lookout and down to McArthur Heights on new and existing trails. Temporary signs are in place to guide you to the Blind Bay lookout and back.

Maplewood (Ready) Trail
The Maplewood trail connecting 5th Ave SE and Okanagan Ave is now complete. Thanks to Bill Laird for including this trail and greenspace in his development and for allowing us to help design the trail.

Park Hill Trail System
Greenways continues to work on the outer loop trail, which is getting very close to completion.
