Shuswap Trail Alliance Bikers

There is a desire to get a solid mountain biking culture established in Salmon Arm.
We have great trails and with the support of the community they can become Epic for locals and tourists alike.
We also need a mountain bike park in Salmon Arm, designed for younger more daring riders.

The need to re-establish a group that demonstrates their excitement and commitment to mountain biking is the first step.
This group then passes it on through actions and events that engage the next generation. Through their leadership, the culture creates a legacy and sustainability is born.

STAB will show solidarity to the community leaders and demonstrate to other groups that we are serious. Furthermore, that this part of our community deserves the attention and funding not only as a recreational ammenity for locals but as a major economic driver. It also re-enforces the efforts that have been made in recent years to make mtn biking part of tourism plans, budget priorities and major marketing efforts.

Then we discussed events that will generate excitement and foster the growth of the STAB culture.
-Toonie races
-Downtown Crit
-Maintenance/building  days

Other priorities recognized:
-bike park
-single tracking the Traverse to make it EPIC
-south canoe rubber head connector
-south canoe authorization
-more trails, making our system bigger and better

The real outcome of the meeting is the first event to be persued by STAB.

Here are the details of the Parkhill Pumpkin Peddle.
-Toonie race held on Sunday Oct 31st

This will work as a celebration of the opening of the park hill system and a good wrap up to the build year! There will be no winner, just the person that finishes at a certain time will be crowned the champ. The event is focussed on fun and identifying/engaging the local community!
